Tree Removal permits
You will most likely need a permit to remove any tree within the city of ottawa.
Only certified arborists or urban foresters can fill the Tree Information Report.
Trees on a cemetery or golf course, or on certain rural lands,
Trees in a farm, nursery or orchard,
Trees within a private courtyard, solarium, rooftop patio, etc.
Trees that pose an immediate danger to property or people,
Dead Trees.

A Tree Removal Permit is required if your tree is:
Bigger than the one pictured here.
On Private land within city limits.
Stands in the way of infill development.
Infill Development:
1240$ per tree
Trees on private land:
200$ per tree up to a maximum of 750$
Application Fees
Application fees are non refundable.
A removal permit is not guaranteed from the City's Urban forestry department.
Replanting trees may be mandated by city inspector.
Tree Removal Permit must be posted 7 days before and after tree work begins.
